Mandatory Furlough Days: The following is a list of the Building Official's mandatory furlough days. There will be NO INSPECTIONS, NO PLAN REVIEWS, NO PERMITS ISSUED, AND NO COVERAGE on these days: Friday, July 10, 2009; Friday, July 24, 2009; Friday, August 7, 2009; Friday, August 21, 2009; Friday, September 4, 2009; Friday, September 18, 2009 and Friday, October 2, 2009.
BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATIONS:
Plan review for building permit applications can take between two (2) to four (4) weeks depending on the size of the project. Please keep this in mind when planning your project.
Swimming Pools:
As summer is upon us, please remember that all swimming pools need building and zoning permits. Please use the above link to the State Department of Public Safety regarding pools that are capable of holding more than 24 inches of water.
Mission Statement
The Office of the Colchester Building Official is part of the Code Administration/Planning and Zoning Department. The Colchester Building Official enforces building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and energy code requirements to promote the health and safety for the people of Colchester by reviewing and administering the State of Connecticut Building Code.
