Welcome to Cragin Memorial Library, the public library of Colchester, Connecticut. Colchester was established in 1698 at an important colonial crossroads, and served as one of Connecticut's earliest manufacturing towns. Library service was first provided to the town in 1856 through a local association. In 1905, the association donated its collection to the new 4,000 square foot public library created by the Cragin family. The expanded Cragin Memorial Library, completed in September of 2002, is a 20,000 square foot state of the art public library facility.

Popular Reading:
We will support leisure reading with a collection of current, high interest material, popular periodicals and classic books.
Children's Reading:
We will introduce children to a love of reading as soon as they are old enough to look at a picture, listen to a story or hold a book.
Information:
We will strive to provide timely, accurate, useful information to enable Colchester residents to inform themselves on all subjects that interest them.
